Product Updates: Weeks 09/01/25 - 09/30/25
SpotOn updates are here: Daily Recaps, Tip Flexibility, Overtime Tracking, and More! Here are the releases you should know about this month.
Dashboard & Point-of-Sale
Daily Recap Report Revamped
The dashboard reporting screen just leveled up: meet the new Daily Recap & End of Day report, now live on the point of sale!
Why This Matters:
These updates give managers and servers the right level of visibility and control. Managers can now access and print the same Daily Recap Report as on the Dashboard, quickly view all outstanding checks, and resolve them with a tap. Servers get a filtered view that shows only their own totals, making reporting simpler and more accurate while keeping sensitive information secure.
Tip After Payment—Now Live!
Set your tip screen to appear after card payment and make tipping easier than ever.
Why this matters:
This flexibility helps you meet customer expectations and streamline the payment process, creating a natural flow tailored to the needs of your business. Learn how to adjust your dashboard settings for tip after payment, here.
Overtime Tracking
Save Time and Ensure Accurate Payroll
SpotOn now makes it easy to customize and manage overtime rules for Daily, Weekly, Double, and Consecutive Day calculations. Regular and Overtime Hours/Wages are automatically surfaced in the reports below, giving you clear visibility into labor costs.
Timesheets
Labor Analytics
Payroll Summary reports
Why this matters:
With overtime built into payroll reports, you reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and simplify compliance - so you can spend less time managing payroll and more time running your business. Just be sure your overtime settings comply with applicable state and federal guidelines.
Split + Combine checks are now available for non-KDS users
Express POS now supports splitting checks by item and combining multiple open checks for non-KDS users (KDS users coming soon).
Split by Item
Combine Checks
Correct Errors
Why This Matters:
These updates make paying simple, fast, and flexible. Guests can pay for exactly what they ordered, tabs can be combined seamlessly when parties join or move around, and mistakes can be corrected instantly—keeping your service smooth and your customers happy.
Add-On's
KDS: Item-Level Bumping
A Smarter, More Flexible Way to Manage Orders
The new item-level bumping feature gives kitchens the control they've been asking for. Instead of bumping entire tickets at once, staff can now mark individual items complete as they're prepared.
Why this matters:
Track order progress in real time. Instantly see what's ready and what's holding up the order
Improve prep workflows, and treat the KDS like a to-do list. Check items off as they're done
Reduce errors and delays. No more waiting until the whole order is finished to keep things moving
Learn how to bump items, bump tickets, and multi-KDS bumping
Enhanced Expo Workflow
We've also improved the Expo experience to improve coordination between prep stations and service staff:
Ticket bumping: Quickly bump entire tickets with the new "Complete" button or a double-tap in the header
Manual control: Order stay visible until you intentionally bump them - no more accidental removals.
Visual status indicators: Clear signals show what's complete vs. what's still in progress
Why this matters:
These updates give kitchens better visibility, stronger control, and faster workflows, helping teams deliver a smoother guest experience.
Order online with Google on Express
We’re excited to introduce Google Online Ordering on Express: SpotOn Order automatically appears as an ordering option when guests find a restaurant on Google Search or Google Maps. When a guest clicks the SpotOn link, they’re seamlessly redirected to SpotOn Order to browse the menu & place their order.
Why this matters
Be visible where guests are searching: Guests searching on Google will now see a SpotOn Order option by default, helping you capture more orders directly from the most popular search platform.
Keep orders commission-free: Unlike third-party marketplaces, SpotOn Order doesn’t charge commissions on transactions. We recommend restaurants remove third-party providers that take fees and keep SpotOn as the preferred option. Here’s how to manage your providers on Google Business Profile.
Control your experience: By setting SpotOn as the preferred provider in your Google Business profile, you can ensure guests see your direct ordering channel first -increasing the likelihood of orders.
Drive more sales: This partnership gives restaurants a powerful new way to capture incremental orders, boost revenue, and build stronger customer relationships—all without additional marketing spend or marketplace fees.
